Skin Care 101
A few notes on daily skin care...
Taking care of your skin can be very simple! The three main steps are cleansing, exfoliating and moisurizing.
A cleanser suited for your skin type should be massaged in twice a day to help breakup dirt, debri and oil which gets trapped in the pores; rinse off with a face cloth to help exfoliate the skin.
It is important to exfoliate the skin once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells that can dull your complexion. Exfoliation helps unplug pores and keeps the skin smooth and clear. Massage your exfoliant in using a circular motion and rinse off with sponges or a face cloth.
Moisturize twice a day to soften and hydrate. Apply a layer of moisturizer over the entire face and neck area. Even oily skin needs a light moisturizer to keep the skin soft and supple.
A few notes on some of the key antioxidants used in Eminence products...
Vitamin A (source carrots)
- One of the most effective antioxidants, one molecule of beta-carotene can neutralize a vast number of free-radicals (free radicals are oxygen molecules that have lost an electron in interactions with other molecules. As a result they are extremely unstable and damage healthy cells)
- Very effective in reducing sun-damage and treating acne
Vitamin C (source rosehips)
- Promotes collagen production (collagen is a protein, the strong connetive tissue that essentially holds us together)
- Heals inflammation
- Reduces sunburn
- Slows down the production of melanin
Vitamin E (source tomatoes)
- Extremely effective anitoxidant in the lipid phase of the skin cell (the lipid phase controls the ways in which water and other substances pass through the cell)
- Protects skin cells from ultra violet light, pollution and other elements that produce cell damaging free-radicals
- Protects the collagen
(Vitamin E is inactivated when it reacts with free radicals, it requires vitamin C to recondition its-self to be effective in neutralizing free radicals)
Co-Enzyme Q10 (source spinach)
- Responsible for energy production in the aging cell
- Assists in cellular metabolism (increases energy production and capacity to heal)
- Protection from free-radicals
- Assists other antioxidants
- Essential for healthy skin and healthy heart!
Alpha lipoic Acid (source evening primrose)
